 All Weekend 

Students, bring your family to the n Student Recreation and Fitness Center for free during Family and Friends Weekend! Free access to the facility for families accompanied by their UMaine student (age limits for siblings apply) begins Friday, February 8 at 5:00am and runs through the end of operating hours on Sunday, February 10, 2008. Campus Recreation is excited to offer our UMaine students a variety of healthy ways to de-stress, get fit and have fun, and we invite families to join them for the weekend for free! 

University Bookstore  Memorial Union

Open Special Hours  Friday-Feb. 8, 8am- 5:30pm  and Saturday Feb. 9, 10am -4pm 

Shop in the University Bookstore, Memorial Union  and pick up some UMaine clothing  to show your UMaine spirit . Bookstore coupons will be available at The Family and Friends Weekend registration.

Page Farm and Home Museum   

9am-4 pm - Friday, Feb 8 

 11 am - 4pm - Saturday Feb. 9, and Sunday Feb. 10.

 Thousands of patrons come to the Page Farm and Home Museum each year to learn about the industry, agriculture, economy, and home-life of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.  The restored barn, a post and beam structure, is the centerpiece of the Museum.  The three-story building, built in 1833, is the oldest and last original agricultural building on the University of Maine campus.  The Museum has become home for the state's most important collection of farm technologies and artifacts of rural culture.

 

   

    Friday & Saturday  University of Maine Museum of Art, Bangor Me. :  A Legacy of Collecting: 1983-Present

The University of Maine Museum of Art is pleased to announce that a gift from Machias Savings Bank will allow UMaine to offer FREE ADMISSION to the museum from now through the end of 2008. Machias Savings Bank, led by President and CEO Edward Hennessey, made the gift in memory of Bangor attorney Edward "Ted" Leonard, a museum benefactor and local arts advocate who died in October." Museum is open- Monday - Saturday, 9am - 5pm.

    Go rock climbing for free!! Bring your family and friends to Maine Bound's climbing wall. This is a great opportunity to mingle with others who enjoy the sport of climbing in the UMaine community
     
  1pm-2:30pm ALANA Center, Tea and Dessert, Hannibal Hamlin Hall   
     
     The A.L.A.N.A. (African, Latino, Asian and Native American,) Center is centered on supporting students of color on campus and multicultural programming. Join us in the cozy A.L.A.N.A. Center in Hannibal Hamlin Hall to meet center staff, friends, and family members.     Silver Duo Concert, featuring Phillip and Noreen Silver on piano and cello. This year's program highlights music by French and Italian composers including the highly dramatic Sonata in C minor by Camille Saint-Saens, the poignant Elegie by Darius Milhaud and a major rediscovery, the Sonata for Cello and Piano by Italian-Jewish composer Leone Sinigaglia.

       Come and join the Campus Activities Board for a night of karaoke! Sing along or join the crowd!
   

Sunday, February 10th:

 
  11:00 am Black Bear XC Ski Race
       Open to the community. Two races are offered simultaneously. A shorter race of 5K for the novice skier is offered along with a 14K for the more experienced skier.   3:00 pm   Nordic Voices , Minsky Recital Hall

Nordic Voices is a six-voice a cappella ensemble whose singing is a blend of the solo and the unified, the analytical and the affectionate. Their vast repertoire ranges from medieval to modern music, featuring works of composers from Monteverdi and di Lasso to Ligeti and Berio. They are dedicated to different and exiting programming, and their programs always follow a specific concept. Their performance is smart and stylish, employing a playful yet sophisticated approach that enhances their already remarkable singing.
