 | Students must be
sponsored by a teacher who is a member of FLAME. |
 | The sponsoring
teacher must submit a recommendation of the
student to the FLAME President. |
 | Funds are for modern
and classical language enrichment or immersion
study. |
 | Funds are to be used
for endeavors other than courses required for a
diploma/degree, such as books, study abroad, or
sponsored educational travel. |
 | Students must submit
a written request describing what the money is
need for and why. They should describe the total
amount needed for their endeavor and any other
sources of funding. The letter should also
explain how they are going to share their
experience within their community and when. |
 | Students must write a
report to the FLAME President and do a
presentation to a group (e.g. Lions Club,
Kiwanis, school boards, chambers of commerce) or
write a newspaper article upon completion of the
endeavor. The student should explain what the
experience has meant to him/her. Documentation of
this should be sent to the FLAME President no
later than 90 days after the completion of the
endeavor. |
 | Each scholarship
awarded will be no more than $200. |
 | No more than $600
will be awarded in an academic year. |
 | Awards will be made
at the discretion of the FLAME Advisory Board. |
 | The applicant must
have been a member of FLAME for two years prior
to his/her request. |
 | Funds will be used
for those endeavors which will promote the use of
modern and classical languages in Maine (e.g.
developing new courses, personal enrichment,
language training, attending or presenting at
professional conferences). |
 | Members must submit a
written request to the FLAME President explaining
what the money is to be used for and why. In the
letter they must describe how and when the
experience will be shared with the FLAME
community (e.g. a presentation to a collaborative
or at the FLAME Conference). |
 | The applicant should
describe the total cost of the endeavor and other
sources of funding. |
 | Upon completion of
the endeavor, the member should submit a written
report to the FLAME President explaining what the
experience has meant to him/her. This should be
done within 90 days of completion of the
endeavor. |
 | Each scholarship
awarded will be no more than $200. |
 | No more than $800
