Maine Folklife Center Receives A Surprise Gift

Donation being given by Lisa Null

Lisa Null gives Pauleena MacDougall a donation.
Behind them from left to right are staff and board memebers Pamela Dean, Gordon Bok, Julia Hunter, Kathryn Olmstead, Karan Sheldon.
Back row: John Pickering, Richard Lunt, Sandy Ives, Richard Judd.

Elizabeth (Lisa) Null, member of the Advisory Board and long time member of the Maine Folklife Center recently contributed an unexpected and very welcome gift in the name of her brother, David Higgins.

It so happens that the University of Maine art department is currently featuring an exhibit of David Higgins art, and as Lisa writes,

"he was at least as deeply into folk and ethnic music as me and has a big ethnographic record album collection down at Wesleyan. I think of his performance pieces as an outgrowth of family charades, parlor games, etc."

The gift comes from the Higgins family foundation, which Lisa administers.
