Minutes:
First topic was meeting time and day. It was decided that the best day would
still be Thursday, but the time is being moved to 6 pm to 7pm, right before Ben
Spaulding's V:TES game. Which will be in DPC 113. Once the meetings get going,
they'll be moved to a biweekly schedule. If there is enough people who want to
attend a meeting and don't want to just read the minutes, I (Josh Verrill) may
be willing to hold a meeting on an alternate night or time for those people.
Vampire: the Eternal Struggle card game on Thursday, DPC 113 from 7 pm to
whenever you guys stop playing. (ask Ben for information)
second topic was nominations for offices.
Pres. Ried Snyder
VP. Pat Josh Verrill
Secretary Nick Chris Nelson
Treasurer: Jon. Jon Moyer

No changes to the constitution are needed, all we'd need is for Riedo to do the
paper work once he finds the office again. There's also the matter of our
budget, so we're going to have to get Jon to attend the senate meeting and do
that paper work... we want out $200!
We also have a slight problem as to the matter of one of the cords for game
night... Fisk, who is no longer attending UMaine, has one of the 3 (the other 2
are with Ried) Robert Mcinnes is going to try and contact Fisk and get the cord
back... it's not cheap and the University probably wont be overjoyed with
missing property.
This led to the resurrection of the idea of getting space in the union to hold
our stuff... this way the cords and whatever else we decided to put in such a
space wouldn't be connected with individuals. This way members who needed could
sign out the items with someone (maybe involving a key and other assorted
devices) and reduce the chance of losing them again in the future.
Next topic was about the Game Night with the CAB. They have a fairly nice
sounding setup in the Bangor room in the Union. The guild would have to bring their
own gaming systems (consoles) but the system sounds pretty good, and Ried's
going to ask about the X-Box the CAB said they had last year. There is a slight
problem with the CAB wanting/expecting 100 people to attend such a night... so
Ried's going to try and figure out if he can get the idea across their mind that
100 people + 1 screen and system = lots of unhappy/bored people. So he'll try
and see if they can't get more screens in the mix, since AV services wont allow
us to use TV's because we're not a classroom.. Ben will also try his hand and
see if he, being faculty, has any better luck with AV services. Another thing
with the CAB/GG game night would be advertising... the guild is going to want to
advertise during this... spread our name and all that happiness.
Ben suggested refreshments, I suggested donations for such refreshments... and
Ried will be checking into that, whether or not it's a good idea and if the
University will be ok with it.
Now onto our own Game Night. Last year showed a significant lack of attendance.
Advertising was poor and we have only ourselves to blame. So the next meeting
we'll probably discuss advertising. It came down to this: people need an
incentive to come to Game Night... and we still have the problem with 1
screen... so Ben suggested either more screens (AV services) or more than one
night (new game, new night) If we can get more than one TV/screen, we'll
probably end up setting up a rotating schedule, with a certain game being on the
big screen and the others on the smaller TV's/screens. For now, we're putting
Game Night on the back burner until we can figure out what what needs to be or
can be done to get it off the ground and not have it lying dying and broken like
last year.
Advertising again... spreading the word to the newbie's about the existence of
the guild... First Class is getting more important in classroom use.. so regular
flyer use may be out the window, although some new blood *IS* finding its way to
our folder via First Class *let's applaud for Matt*
Ben suggested game week again.. a winter carnival-like thing where each day we
center around a different game type... card games (V:TES, magic, yugioh etc) RPG
(DND, WOD, Exalted, Rifts etc) Board games (space hulk etc) and so on The basic
idea is get people to know about other game styles, spread interest in them,
spread our name etc In other words, to organize the different facets of the
Gamer's Guild into an actual group, not just small clichés who don't
communicate. We need to come out of our caves and into the sunlight. Darn us
all!
Ben also wanted to inform everyone, there will be a Vampire: the Eternal
Struggle special tourney at Games Unlimited, free promo cards (Ooo.. shiny new
cards!) there are a few restrictions, you'll have to play only one clan etc If
you want more info, go to Ben's webpage (check the links folder you lazy bums)
look at the end of his posts, or the guild website. He'll also post his own
message about it in the future.
Last and not least.... spread the word, we want more members, new members. There
are gamers out there who don't know the guild exists, or how to get to it to
find it. Old and new gamers, there's fresh blood out there! Bring it in darn
you!
