Thanks to all the new members that came to the meeting tonight. All of the officers were happy to see the turnout, and we hope that you keep interested and in contact with the Guild!
Elections: Well, we held the elections. There wasn't too much of a deal, as there was only one candidate, so they went as follows:
Ried Snyder President (and Head Trouble-maker)
Josh Verrill Vice President
Chris Nelson Secretary and Bad Speller
Reginald Bennett Treasurer
Game Night: Game Night is now officially on Mondays with CAB from 7-9 in the Bangor Room in the Union (for those of you who don't know where that is, go up the main staircase to the second floor, take a left, follow the corridor down and it's on the right). We decided on three games for Game Night: Soul Caliber on the PS2, DDR for PS2, and Super Mario Kart on N64. The setup will include a large screen for the main attraction, at two TVs on the side for the other two games. For the next game (9/22), we're planning to have Soul Caliber on the main screen, and possibly DDR for the week after (9/27). There was a suggestion for a record of high scores to be kept for Soul Caliber, and possibly spawn a tournament off of that. Refreshments were nixed for several reasons.
Maine Campus: Josh is planning to meet with a person from the Maine Campus in the hopes of getting an interview for the Gamers' Guild. Bo suggested that we try to get a permanent spot in the paper, possibly for game reviews or Game Night statistics.
Gamers' Guild Folder: It was also suggested that any and all game statistics and/or Game Night statistics could be posted on the Gamers' Guild folder.
Bo's Big LAN Party Idea: Bo was very excited at the idea of developing a LAN party. Although going through IT has been determined by Ried and Ben to be difficult to impossible, Bo and I suggested a system of routers and switches to keep the LAN system separate from the University. Bo suggested several different methods for buying such equipment. I will look in to obtaining a room on the third floor of Boardman that is suitable.
Vampire: The Eternal Struggle: Ben dropped the fact that every Thursday night, from 7-9 in room 113 in DTAV he holds Vampire card games. He is also open to anyone who wants to play any card games. He loves to play Magic :-) Other topics: Andrew mentioned that he was interested in setting up a counterstrike server, possibly after October break. Paul suggested that we try to obtain a server strictly for Gamers' Guild use - although Ben and Ried mentioned that it may be difficult, they both said that they would look into it. Ben had the idea of what has so far been termed "The Week of Chaos", where we take a week to specialize in a different game every day. He feels that it would be a good chance for people in and outside of the Gamers' Guild to get interested in every kind of game the Guild has to offer. Ried and Ben will come up with more details as the semester progresses. Thanks, and have a pleasant night :-)
