Intermedia MFA student, Allison Melton Creates Tuna Tree to Promote Pantry Project

Tuesday, January 4th Hollywood Slots employees are hosting the second annual Pantry Project kickoff in front of a holiday tree made of more than 3,000 cans by local artist and University of Maine graduate student, Allison Melton. The tree, made primarily of tuna cans will be an excellent boost towards the goal of collecting 12,000 pounds for Eastern Maine pantries. 

Companies from Bangor to Machias have teamed up with the Pantry Project, a food gathering program organized by United Way of Eastern Maine (UWEM) to benefit local food pantries. “We’re honored to be able to aid in part of the solution for hunger challenges in Eastern Maine,” said John Kuropchak, United Way of Eastern Maine president. “It’s a great partnership with Good Shepherd Food Bank and all
of our participating companies.”  Jason Birney, Director of Marketing at Hollywood Slots said, “We couldn’t be more proud to contribute to this great cause in such a creative way.  We only hope that this beautiful work of art has assisted in raising awareness and donations to the United Way’s Pantry Project.”
