Posted November 5th, 2009 - Juan Luis Garcia, a doctoral student in Earth Sciences, has been awarded a 2010-2011 graduate scholarship from the Organization of the American States (OAS) for up to two years, valued at $30,000/year. Further information on OAS scholarships is at:

Garcia is researching glacial geology in southern Chile under the guidance of Dr. Brenda Hall.Mr. Garcia's research focuses on the glacial history of the Torres del Paine region of southern Chile and its implications for understanding the origins of ice ages and abrupt climate change.
