Innovative MBA/MBA Scholarship/Service Program for Recent Alumni

March 25, 2009

The Maine Business School has announced a pilot scholarship opportunity for students who graduated from the University of Maine in May 2006 or later and meet admission standards for business graduate education. Under the plan, devised by Dean John Mahon of UMaine's College of Business, Public Policy and Health, those students would receive scholarships amounting to a 25 percent tuition discount in UMaine's Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) programs. This novel concept is designed to help a limited number of students navigate tough economic times or postpone entry into a tight job market. To be eligible, MBA/MSA students must enroll full time and commit to 10 hours a week of service to the Maine Business School or in community outreach activities, Mahon says.
