University of Maine Offers Scholarship Incentive for New On-Line Master of Education Program

In order to better serve the continuing needs of educators within the state of Maine as well as from other states, the University of Maine has developed a completely on-line, asynchronous master's degree program focusing on Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction.

Beginning with the 2010-11 academic year, a scholarship is available to U.S. residents from other states that will defray the cost between resident and nonresident tuition rates to help support access to the program by out-of-state students.  Once an individual is accepted into the masters degree program, a scholarship will be provided to bring the tuition costs to that of the in-state rate.  This tuition arrangement applies only to graduate courses taken as part of the on-line master's
degree program after admission.  An adjustment will be made to the usual nonresident tuition rate as part of the billing process for courses taken; the initial bill may not reflect this discount, but the final tuition rate will be $400/credit hour for the 2010-11 academic year, plus the mandatory fees normally assessed to distance ed students.  Any courses taken outside the approved curriculum for the master's program will be billed at the nonresident rate.

Out-of-state students are eligible for financial aid.  The University of Maine's Office of Student Aid will be made aware of this scholarship upon the student's acceptance into the master's degree program.
