NE PASTURE

Survey of NE Extension Administration

n          Administrators of Extension in the NE states were electronically mailed a survey in late January 2005 to determine their current and future staffing in a variety of areas related to pasture research and Extension efforts.

n          Results are tabulated in the following tables and were received from all states except Rhode Island.  Connecticut reported no specific assignments and New York provided no county data and estimates for the state were made from general information they provided.

n          Tables reflect current number of scientists per state and the number of FTE’s (full time equivalents) working on the state level (normally state specialists) and county level (normally County Ag Agents/staff).  The section entitled: “Planned” indicates only where states projected an increase from the current level.

n          Data from the NESARE program was evaluated from 1988-2004 and is a summary of all  research, education, farmer/grower and other funded grant programs.  Data is presented as number of projects by livestock species, production area and summarized by our 6 Consortium priorities.
