"We, as Undergraduate Members of women's fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community. Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities.

We, as Fraternity Women, stand for service through the development of character inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life. The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenet by which we strive to live."

The College Panhellenic Association (Panhel) is the governing board for the six sororities at The University of Maine. The governing board consists of six elected executive officers, a Panhellenic Delegate from each chapter, and each chapter's President. The board meets weekly and allows chapters to share information on the various events they are planning. This allows the organizations to see what other chapters are doing and learn more on how we can support each other. Ultimately, the goal of the Panhellenic Association is to encourage communication and cooperation between chapters in order to constantly improve the quality of the Greek community at The University of Maine.

One of the most important events that the Panhellenic Association sponsors is Recruitment. The Recruitment week is set up in such a way to give women an opportunity to meet members of all the Panhellenic sororities represented on campus so that they can make a well informed decision about whether or not sorority life is for them.
