Chapter History

Delta Tau Delta is founded at Bethany College. Eight undergraduates, angered by a fixed vote for a prize in oratory to be given at the Neotrophian Literary Society the only real forum for students to practice and demonstrate skills in poetry, public speaking, and writing essays respond by forming a secret society. The purpose of the new society, known only by the Greek letters Delta Tau Delta, is to see that the Neotrophian is returned to popular control, and delivered from the hands of the group of students who seized it.

Gamma Nu Chapter of Delta Tau Delta originated as Omega Lambda Upsilon. The first meeting of this body was held on February 18, 1904. During four years the fraternity increased in size and progressed in purpose. In 1908 the present house was built. On November 11 of this same year, Omega Lambda Upsilon received its charter as Gamma Nu of Delta Tau Delta, and on November 12, the house was formally opened.

After being closed in 1997 Gamma Nu was recharted on November 20th, 2004. The Chapter is once again living in the old house at 111 College Ave.
