Phi Mu was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. It began as a literary society called the Philomathean Society. The Philomathean Society became Phi Mu Fraternity in 1904. Because the word “sorority” was not commonly used when Phi Mu was chartered, the proper name is Phi Mu Fraternity, even though it is an organization for women. Phi Mu is the second oldest secret society for women, and today Phi Mu has over 150 collegiate chapters across the nation.
Pi Chapter was founded in 1912, making us the 5th oldest Phi Mu chapter in the nation. |
