The easiest way to upgrade Internet Explorer is to visit Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Web site. Please note that the latest version of Internet Explorer is version 8. While the University of Maine’s new Web site works perfectly with Internet Explorer 8, some Web sites do not. For example, MaineStreet currently recommends that you use Internet Explorer 7 instead of 8 due to a convenience issue related to tabbed browsing.
FireFox
The easiest way to update FireFox is to visit http://www.mozilla.com and click on the download icon on their main Web page. Once you have downloaded FireFox, double-click the installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.
Other Updates
While you are updating your software, you should also consider verifying that you are running the latest virus protection software (available from the University of Maine’s Information Technologies department) and that your computer is up to date (visit http://update.microsoft.com).
