Summer Session 2008 Housing and Dining Information

On-Campus Housing
Housing Services offers students enrolled in summer session classes the option to reside on campus in Oak Hall, a traditional style residence hall with single rooms. A meal plan is required to live in summer session housing.

Summer Session Dates

  • May 10, 2008 to August 23, 2008
  • Students with fall 2008 housing assignments will stay in summer session housing until August 27, 2008 and then move at this time to fall housing

Rooms are furnished with

  • Twin bed
  • Bureau
  • Desk and chair

Students need to supply

  • Linens
  • Pillows
  • Blankets
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Touchtone telephone
  • Calling card/cell phone for long distance
  • Cable ready television

Amenities in each room

  • Telecommunication hook-ups (high speed internet)
  • Local touch-tone dialing service with voicemail system
  • Cable television hookup

Application process

  • Download application, complete and return to Housing Services
  • Upon receipt of application an email confirmation will be sent to student via email (time permitting)

Check-in/Check-out

  • Room assignments made at check-in
  • Rooms normally available for occupancy on the day before classes begin
  • Current residents will check out of academic year hall and check in at Oak starting 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2008
  • Check-out for summer session residents is on Saturday after that session ends

Charges and Billing

  • Billing week defined as Sunday through Saturday
  • All accounts audited and/or adjusted based upon departure
  • Charges for the actual length of stay and type of room assigned, i.e. small single or single
  • Additional cost assessed for early arrival or late departures
  • Charges are for services received
  • Weekly rates include room and board
  • ALL FEES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Please Note: The inclusive dates for summer session housing are May 10, 2008 through August 23, 200.

Cancellations

  • Student must notify Housing Services in writing prior to start of first scheduled summer session
  • E-mail us at housing@umerl.maine.edu
  • Room charges refunded 100% prior to the first day of session
  • After start of session student charged for room and board through end of current billing week if student leaves before end of the session

Summer Session Board Plan

  • Summer Session residents are required to have a board plan
  • Board plan consists of $100.00 per week in MaineCard Dining Funds
  • Dining Funds can be used at Maine Marketplace and/or Wells Dining Facility (opening late June 2008)
  • Please see our web site at http://www.umaine.edu/dining and Channel 2 of the Campus Television Network for hours of operation
  • Additional dining funds may be purchased at the Student Service Center, located in the Memorial Union Building
  • Additional dining funds may be charged to student account with account balance $100.00 or less
  • Any unused Dining Funds from spring 2008 may be used through June 30, 2008
  • Limited dining services will be available Memorial Day weekend
  • Limited dining services available 4th of July weekend
  • Prorated plan available during limited service hours

The MaineCard Black Bear One Program is available to students, staff and faculty of the University of Maine
