Medical Coverage

The University offers a choice between two different medical plans through Anthem, both of which cover a wide range of services, from hospitalization to doctor’s office visits, from prescription drugs to surgery. For details on the plans link to http://www.maine.edu/system/hr/bene.php for the Summary Plan Descriptions for the COMP CARE plan and the POS plan. There is also a side by side benefit comparison at the same link. During Open Enrollment or after an appropriate Family Status Change, you may enroll in the plan or drop coverage, change from COMP CARE to POS or vice versa, and add or delete eligible dependents. A new dependent must be added to your plan within 31 days of a status change. Please contact the Benefits Office at 581-2367 to receive appropriate forms.
