Donna Buckley
Over the past 25 years Donna Buckley’s job and job performance has changed tremendously. When Donna first started in The University of Maine Cooperative Pest Management Office (PMO), she performed routine support functions. As the unit grew, so did Donna’s responsibilities and creativity. Donna has become very adept at computer use and computer generated materials. This creativity was put to the test when she took the editorial and design lead in producing a PMO program brochure a couple of years ago. This colored brochure was a big hit and was used throughout the state to inform various people about the programming from Extension. She has also been instrumental in the design and updating of the PMO and Extension Support Staff Committee’s (EssC) websites, as well as producing PowerPoint presentations.
Donna’s contributions to extension over the years have been varied. She has taken the lead in organizing several National and Regional meetings in which she has proven herself quite detail oriented. She is currently working on a National Meeting to be held this August in Portland. Through the knowledge gained in these experiences, Donna has honed her skills and has been in charge of the details and set up of Extension organizational meetings the past few years.
Donna has shown her self-initiative through several projects that have already been mentioned, the PMO and EssC websites and the PMO colored brochure. However, she has also shown her commitment to Extension through her work in the development of the EssC and recognition of support staff and supervisors. To recognize Donna for her efforts in Extension, she won the EssC Award of Excellence in 2004.
Donna has championed the rights of support staff to pursue staff development and to become involved in organizational support through committees and other means.
Personally, Donna has taken classes with the ultimate goal of receiving her degree in mass media, as well as taking seminars that hone her office skills.
Donna Buckley is an asset to Cooperative Extension and congratulations on 25 years of success in our organization. We wish you continued success in your next 25 years with us.
