Deborah Killam
Extension Educator

Deborah Killam has been a dedicated faculty member of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension for twenty five years.
Deborah began her work for UMaine Extension in Aroostook County in 1982. She moved to Franklin County and later began statewide educator work in Orono in 1987. She has worked in a number of program areas including 4-H Youth Development, Community Development, Agriculture and Natural Resources and Aging. She served as Extension Educator/Senior Companion Project Director for eight years, and most recently is the statewide educator for Aging and Mature Adult Life Skills.
Debbie has been a pioneer in the field of aging issues and strong interagency collaboration in Maine. She believes passionately in the power of informed citizens to make thoughtful and purposeful decisions that affect communities. She has planned, conducted and evaluated educational programs in many areas. She has assisted other faculty with evaluation, information management and reporting. She developed and published a cutting edge elder care giving series that is being used by many citizens.
Debbie is a tireless worker who has collected many educational resources that have been shared with others. The Aging/Mature Adult Life Skills resource center in Corbett Hall is a testament to her hard work. She continues to collect resources so she and others can assist Maine citizens.
Deborah loves animals; her horse and other pets keep her very busy. She is a devoted friend and strong community member.
