Barbara LaPlante
Stewardship Officer, Office of University Development
Barbara LaPlante is the Stewardship Officer for the Office of University Development.
She has worked in the Office of University Development since she graduated from high school and is a tremendous asset. Her outstanding work ethic, “can do” attitude, attention to detail, flexibility, patience and personal ethics set a very high standard for others to follow. Her writing abilities – which are critical in her stewardship role – are exemplary.
Fundraising professionals are in high demand and turnover is an inevitable reality of the field. In light of frequent organizational transitions, Barb’s long tenure with the Office of University Development is invaluable. Her knowledge of our donors and their giving histories cannot be replaced by any technology or business process. Barb is always ready to jump in and help out with any job. She is truly a team player who always seems to enjoy a new challenge, and she embodies “lifelong learning” in its truest sense.
Barb also has been an enormous help with an ongoing, and challenging database conversion project. The project has been very short-staffed and Barbara has frequently contributed her talents above and beyond the call of duty, working at home on the evenings and weekends to solve particularly difficult problems. Her detailed analysis of complex business functions helps us maximize the capacity of the new system.
The Development Office and the University of Maine thank Barb for her 25 years of service and her loyalty and commitment to this institution. The university is a much stronger institution as a result of Barb’s many contributions.
