Sheila Vaillancourt
Computer Office Assistant
Cooperative Extension

After 25 years of service to the University of Maine, Sheila Vaillancourt acts as if it has been only 25 days. She has so much zest and enthusiasm for her work and the people she helps. She is a great team player with a sense of humor and she always has a smile! Sheila is one of those special people you can count on, through thick or thin.

She is a huge asset to the computer office and the University. Her dedication to teamwork and customer service is outstanding. We can count on her eye for detail and her follow-through, and she responds to each customer’s problem with the same great level of positive energy.

Sheila’s enthusiasm and energy around new technology is very engaging. She is the first to jump in and try things out—be it itouch, imac, gps, wii, or guitar hero! We depend on her to push the envelope—to add new dimension and perspective to whatever the day’s technology challenge is.

We commend her for her dedication to professional development, her leadership and marketing of Extension, her energy and role modeling as our “Move and Improve” coordinator, her work on the Retiree Wall (a place to recognize all UMaine retired employees), her coordination of food drives for local families and packages for our soldiers. . . the list goes on and on.

Sheila is a beautiful collage of work, family, and life, and it a privilege to know her.  Any of the former student workers or UMaine Extension retirees who always make it a point to look her up when they are on campus will say the same thing!

Sheila, we tip our hat to you and look forward to enjoying the gifts you bring to Extension, professionally and personally, for many more years!
