Jack Patrick
Custodian II, Facilities Management
Jack Patrick is the kind of worker every employer looks for. His old school work ethic and quiet demeanor have served him very well over the past 35 years here at the University of Maine.
Jack started his career here on campus in 1973 when he joined the staff of Facilities Management as a spare custodian. After spending a number of years being assigned where he was needed, Jack found his home in Aubert Hall and has spent the last 30 years cleaning and caring for that building and its occupants.
When he’s not at work, Jack likes to go yard-saling so he can look for antiques and old furniture for his wife’s shop. One of his favorite pastimes is to work on crossword and trivia puzzles. He can spend hours at a time happily working away at most any puzzle. Jack is also very dedicated to his family, including his dog, Cubby.
Of course, there is one challenge that Jack continues to face as a regular part of his life. No matter what type of vehicle he buys – whether old or new – something always seems to go wrong with it. It could be something small like a tire regularly going flat or something big like an exhaust system needing to be replaced, he just doesn’t seem to have any luck with them.
Despite his vehicle difficulties, Jack is at work, quietly going about his business every day and we sincerely thank him for his 35 years of devoted service.
