Kimball Mitchell
Kim Mitchell, in his role as Media Producer, used his creativity and communication skills to significantly enhance the University of Maine’s communications efforts during his career of more than 20 years at University Relations. An accomplished broadcast professional with previous experience in commercial television and radio, along with Maine Public Broadcasting, Kim brought exceptional video and audio production skills to bear on innumerable projects positively affecting public appreciation of the University of Maine.
Statewide audiences have seen and/or heard Kim's broadcast accounts of UMaine teaching, research and service accomplishments, along with feature stories detailing the achievements of dozens -- perhaps hundreds -- of UMaine students. Kim did extensive work with numerous UMaine individuals and units, but was perhaps most closely involved with helping tell the Cooperative Extension story through various broadcast formats.
Kim also served a valuable departmental role in providing technical support to maximize and maintain computer and other technical equipment. Largely self-taught in this area, Kim's efforts were substantial and appreciated by his colleagues.
Another group that benefited from Kim's skills, attention and patience is those students who either worked under his tutelage at WMEB radio or who took one of the many classes he taught in the Dept. of Communication and Journalism. Those students were fortunate to learn from such a seasoned professional, and Kim's friends and co-workers benefited from his outstanding work and his collegiality. Kim, you will be greatly missed. Best wishes in retirement.
