Paul Bertrand
Custodian II
Facilities Management
Paul Bertrand started at the University as a Janitor 25 years ago and spent the majority of his custodial career in Nutting Hall.
Even though his building had lots of faculty and student traffic and frequent visitors, Paul has always been a top notch employee. He has been praised for his ability to perform extra tasks, such as conference set ups, while still maintaining the overall cleanliness of his assigned areas. Though Paul himself is a man of few words and generally refrained from small talk, there are numerous letters of appreciation and thanks in his file that reflect his positive impact on the people around him. From the Maine Audubon Society to Cooperative Extension, Paul received kudos for doing his job extremely well.
Throughout his many years of service, Paul consistently received high marks from his supervisors as well. From his working relationships to his outstanding attendance to his ability to keep his building especially clean and his building occupants satisfied, Paul was a hard working, positive employee who always knew how to get the job done.
On his off time, Paul enjoys golfing and traveling. He is an enthusiastic NASCAR fan, and remembers with great fondness watching his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Paul’s other passion is his family. Though he and his wife did not have children he is close to his niece and thinks of her children like his own grandchildren.
Paul, we sincerely thank you for the wonderful work you performed and the many great contributions you made to Facilities and the University of Maine. We wish you a terrific retirement.
