Walter Campbell was hired at the University of Maine over 37 years ago as a young man just out of high school.

One of his supervisors described him as a “one-of-a-kind” employee; someone who knows his job inside and out and someone who can be depended upon to work hard and consistently produce good results. Walter was quick to see what needed to be done and would try to do it all.

In 1998 Walter was nominated for the Outstanding Classified Employee Award.

Walter was responsible for responding to requests from many, many people through the years, and always performed in an exemplary manner to each request. His knowledge and dedication will be hard to replace. Property Management and all Walter’s colleagues will miss him greatly.

Walter, please accept the University of Maine’s gratitude and thanks for your many years of service. Enjoy your well deserved retirement.
