Brenda Collamore
Administrative Assistant I
Department of Philosophy

Brenda Collamore is completing her 35th year at the University of Maine. She has been the Administrative Assistant for the Philosophy Department since 1997. Before that she was the Administrative Assistant for Women’s Studies for 14 years after working for the Bureau of Public Administration and the College of Education.

She has proven herself to be reliable, friendly, and extremely capable in managing the department’s budget and records, greeting and helping students, keeping the Maples in order, and being the key contact person for much of the department’s business. She has gone out of her way to help students and faculty.

As an example of how dedicated Brenda has been she once worked additional hours to help a faculty member prepare a book manuscript for a publication deadline. In another example, she helped a faculty member recovering from surgery to get materials to and from his office. One colleague compared her to “the little engine that could”, and living up to this designation, she has recently completed her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Brenda received the Outstanding Classified Employee of the Year Award in 1993.

Through her experiences as a student, a teacher, and an administrative professional, she has shown that she is an invaluable contributor to the life of the department.

Thank you, Brenda for your 35 years of dedicated service to the University of Maine!
