In her over 27 years with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Louise has brought an expansive and entrepreneurial spirit to her work that has produced significant impacts for and with individuals who aspire to be key players in group and organizational leadership for purposeful change.
As the organization’s pioneer in women’s leadership development, Louise has brought her skills as an innovative educator to build the capacity of women and men to envision and manifest the professional and organizational changes they desire. As a skilled leadership educator she demonstrates a strong community development approach to her work in Maine’s communities and genuinely involves the citizenry in envisioning possibilities and coming together to reach those possibilities for enhanced well being.
Louise has touched the lives of numerous Maine residents who believe that lifelong learning empowers local citizens to make wise decisions for their communities. Her ability to bridge the spheres of group, community and human development is quite profound when one realizes the impacts she has had in teaching others to identify and follow their dreams in organizational and community settings.
For all her accomplishments and love of learner-centered teaching, Louise is well deserving of our recognition, respect and gratitude on her retirement as an Extension Professor within the University of Maine. Louise, congratulations and best wishes in your retirement!
