Diana Weddell
Administrative Assistant I
Department of English
Diana Weddell was Administrative Assistant to the Department of English for 8 years. It couldn't have been easy to step into the shoes of a much-loved predecessor who had served the department for over 40 years, but Diana quickly gained the respect and affection of all concerned. She was the consummate professional. Despite the constant interruptions and distractions of a large and very busy office, Diana always kept her cool and her sense of humor. In a 2004 review, Chair Tony Brinkley praised Diana's "loyalty, good judgment and insight -- her gift at addressing problems and creating solutions."
Diana enjoyed the quiet pleasures of reading but was also deeply involved in Frankfort community activities. Her passion for progressive politics led her to be active at both local and state levels. A member of the Waldo County Democrats, she served on the state platform committee in 2006 and also served as convention delegate. One of her first pleasure trips after stepping down from work took her to Washington, D.C. for a closer look at the political system. Diana's lovely New England accent still gives a local flavor to the answering machine message at the Puckerbrush Review, Maine's oldest literary magazine.
The faculty and staff of the English Department are grateful for all of Diana's contributions in her too-brief time with us. Congratulations and best wishes for a wonderful retirement.
