Dr. Barry Goodell

Dr. Goodell has been a leading researcher and teacher in wood science and technology at the University of Maine for the past 25 years. Barry is known for his uncompromising pursuit of excellence in his field. He is a leading researcher and teacher in wood science and technology whose work is nationally and internationally recognized. His honors include the Forest Products Society's prestigious Gottschalk Award in 2006. This award is the society's highest level of recognition for an individual who has “served the Society with great distinction and dedication.”

He was recently elected as President-Elect of the Forest Products Society and serves on the Board of Directors (International Executive Board member) for both the Forest Products Society, and the Society of Wood Science and Technology. Barry is one of four founding faculty members of the AEWC Advanced Structures & Composites Center at UMaine. He received the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture's Outstanding Researcher Award in 2004-05. In his career, Barry has helped bring $24 million in research funding to UMaine, published more than 100 journal publications in the forest products field, and has had three patents approved.
