Atwood Hobbs
Electrician
Facilities Management

Atwood Hobbs began his career at the University of Maine as an Electrician 11 years ago. He came to Facilities with many years of experience in the electrical trade that was soon put to good use. Atwood was placed in charge of maintaining the fume hoods on campus and at the Darling Marine Center. When it became clear that he had skills in repairing electrically operated kitchen equipment, he assumed responsibility for their proper maintenance and operation as well.

Shortly after taking on those responsibilities, Atwood became involved in a kitchen renovation at the President’s House. During this project, he developed such good working relationships that from that point forward he was assigned all the electrical work at the President’s House. His work there even included assisting with the annual holiday decorating both outside and inside the house. One year when the family wanted a real sleigh for decoration Atwood, always willing to help out, found one.

Atwood enjoys painting pictures of Maine landscapes and has done so for many years. He has often donated a painting or two to a charitable cause for auction and the results are always positive. Since his retirement last year, he has been able to dedicate more time to his hobbies. Atwood keeps busy gardening, cutting firewood, and working on house projects at his home in Winterport.

We wish Atwood all the best in his retirement and sincerely thank him for his good work and commitment to the University of Maine. Congratulations and best wishes on your retirement!
