Jeff Wren
Assistant Swim Coach

Jeff Wren has been the leader of the University of Maine’s women’s swim team for the first 36 of its 38-year existence. When the men’s and women’s programs were combined in 1990, Jeff became the head coach, serving in this role from 1990 until 2007.

He led the University of Maine’s women’s program to six New England titles and also assisted the men’s program to several New England titles in the 1970s. He has coached numerous All-New England and All-Conference performers as well as several members of the University of Maine’s Sports Hall of Fame.

Over his many years on campus, Jeff has impacted the lives of many student-athletes. He has also been active in the community with the Athletic Department’s summer camp program as well as starting a swim lesson program. He has contributed greatly to the program’s rich success. Just before his retirement, Jeff led a fundraising campaign to assist with new starting blocks for the swimming pool. He also played an important role in Maine hosting numerous conference championship meets, including the America East Conference meet eight times.

Jeff has assisted with fundraising for the swim program in many ways. On one occasion to draw attention and financial support to the swim program, he spent four days swimming 65 miles of the Penobscot River to benefit Maine swimming.

Jeff has committed much of his life to the student-athletes of the Maine swim program and we are grateful. Thank you, Jeff, for your countless contributions to the success of the University of Maine. Congratulations on your retirement.
