Sharon Melanson
Administrative Associate
Gift Processing Department

Sharon first came to the University of Maine in 1970 working in what was then the Judiciary Office and Student Activities. Seven years later she left to work as a free lance typist for court reporters. Sharon returned to the University in 1984 when she was hired to work for the Registrar’s Office. In 1985 she transferred to the Development Office. Her strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic have helped her earn promotions and become an especially valued employee in Development. Over the years this office has moved to several different locations and endured changes in technology and Sharon has taken it all in stride. She has worked in many locations across the campus over the years and currently works in the Gift Processing Office in Alumni Hall.

Anecdotally, when Sharon applied to work at the Development Office, they wanted someone who would stay for a period of time. While recently attending the retirement reception for the person who hired her, Sharon quipped, “Have I been here long enough?” Sharon really enjoys her work and being here on campus and her colleagues enjoy working with her.

Sharon, we thank you for your continuing service and your more than 25 years of commitment to the University of Maine.
