Robin Mishou
Records Technician I
Cutler Health Center
Robin Mishou has served the University of Maine for over 25 years. She began her career in 1983 in the Bursar’s Office as a Cashier managing student accounts and assisting parents with various University payments. She was dedicated, meticulous and compassionate even when faced with challenging situations. Being on the front lines helping students and parents with their financial relationship with the University is at times rewarding although frequently stressful. Robin met this challenge head on in a professional manner. This was just a hint of the kind of employee she would become for the University of Maine.
Her record is filled with numerous personal letters from parents, students and University Vice Presidents commending Robin on her poise, politeness, honesty and respect she extended to everyone she encountered, no matter how stressful. She was able to listen and assure the parents and students their case was in “good hands” with Robin. Once presented with a situation to be resolved, she would follow through to completion ensuring the parent or student got a full and clear explanation of the results.
Student Health Services was fortunate to have Robin become part of our Health Information Management team in 1995. She applied the same skills in supporting students with their medical records, walking them through the maze of release of medical information and auditing their record for completeness. Her appointment expanded, as the health center transitioned, to include the day to day management of the immunization compliance for all full and part-time degree seeking incoming students. Collecting and validating students’ immunizations over a ten month time period to comply with the annual State deadline was an enormous task. Robin’s attention to detail and careful record keeping allowed the University to account for the immunization status of 2500 students over 2 weeks during the 2007 mumps outbreak.
These are just a few of the many contributions that Robin has made to the University of Maine over the past 25 years. We would like to wish her all the best in her retirement and thank her for all the years of service to the University’s students, parents and staff.
