Phyllis Thibodeau
Administrative Associate
College of Education and Human Development

The College of Education and Human Development is very fortunate to have Phyllis Thibodeau and to have benefited from her 35 years as an employee of the University of Maine. Phyllis has been an incredible asset to administrators, to faculty, to students, to professional and classified employees, and to the many external constituencies the College serves.

She is the consummate professional, demonstrating the legendary Maine work ethic as well as an understanding of how people and the University work. We have been very fortunate to hold on to her as her reputation as a star within the support staff is well known across the campus and beyond.

The terms “veteran” and “experienced” are far too trite to describe the work and contribution of Phyllis to the University of Maine. Phyllis is such a “people person” that she makes it seem like she knows everyone she has ever met (and usually does)! She always has an upbeat personality and a warm and genuine smile. However, she has no qualms about telling it like it is.

You always know where you stand with Phyllis. She will immediately tackle unexpected questions and challenges that come her way each day and soothes the most ruffled feathers with her extensive knowledge of the campus and its operation and her natural affinity to help anyone needing assistance.

Phyllis is truly a team player. She doesn’t hesitate to jump right in wherever she is needed. She doesn’t take the time to worry about how it will be done – she just does it! She displays a work ethic beyond compare and serves as an excellent role model for support staff campus‐wide. She is a natural leader who people in all roles turn to for ideas on how to get anything done.

Phyllis is the ultimate go‐to person, and it cannot be emphasized enough just how important she has been to the operation and culture of the College. Phyllis is also a recipient of the 2004 Outstanding Employee of the Year Award.

Congratulations, Phyllis, on achieving 35 years of service!
