Richard Shaw
Storeroom Clerk
University Bookstore
Richard Shaw joined the University bookstore as a Storeroom Clerk in the Receiving Department in 1978. During Dick’s University career he has seen many changes at the Bookstore. In 2001 the bookstore reopened after extensive renovations as a part of the Memorial Union expansion project. His work area was also renovated to accommodate the growing demands of textbooks, apparel, and other goods.
Dick personally unpacked and packed countless numbers of textbooks and other supplies students and faculty depended on at the beginning of every semester and summer session. Dick was known for being very particular with his attention to detail with University themed apparel. He would always check to make sure the University logo was perfect. He was also scrupulous of all new shipment arrivals.
Dick enjoyed traveling in his spare time. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fly-fishing. Dick has been known to take pleasure in riding his 4-Wheeler, often spending time in his garage keeping it in great running order. In fact, he can often be found in his garage working on projects that require great attention to detail.
Dick, the University of Maine wishes you a wonderful retirement.
