Colwell “Cal” Severance
Laboratory Utility Assistance
College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture

“Cal” Severance is a dedicated employee who keeps vehicles and research equipment operating safely and efficiently in the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture. Cal’s many years of experience and creativity are just some of the many tools that he draws upon to complete the many tasks at hand. One need only mention a problem or an idea and before long the equipment is either repaired or designed and fabricated. He is often concerned about keeping costs to a minimum by recycling material while never compromising safety. Cal is always willing to help anyone whether it is in the College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture or the campus at large.

Cal’s work ethic is exemplary and he takes great pride in a job well done. Probably one of his favorite past times is to pull a practical joke on someone to make them smile. If you have a moment to spare, Cal loves to share his fishing stories or talk about his grandchildren.

The University of Maine is very fortunate to have such a talented, hardworking and loyal employee as Cal and we wish to sincerely thank him for his 35 years of outstanding service. The College of Natural Sciences, Forestry and Agriculture, and particularly the School of Forest Resources is very grateful that Cal decided to join us; they would be lost without him.

Congratulations, Cal, and thank you for your 35 years of service to the University of Maine!
