Scott Hildreth
Building and Grounds Maintenance Mechanic and Trades Worker
Facilities Management

Building and Grounds Maintenance Mechanic and Trades Worker Scott Hildreth spent his first six years at the University of Maine as a Custodian in Auxiliary Services.  In 1990, he became an Assistant Watch Engineer in the Heating Plant, and in 2003, was promoted to Watch Engineer.  Three years later, Scott transferred to the HVAC Shop for his current position.

As a Building and Grounds Maintenance Mechanic and Trades Worker, he is responsible for servicing and ensuring the proper operation of all compressors on campus, which requires coordinating shut-offs with other shops, as well as with lab and office personnel.  Scott’s success has been exceptional, considering almost every building has a compressor and some have eight or more!

Colleagues cite Scott’s positive attitude, sunny outlook and eagerness to learn new tasks, as traits that have served him well throughout his career.  He has consistently received praise for his strong work ethic, self-motivation, and willingness to take on additional duties.

Though he is a model employee, it is the holiday dinners and the thoughtfulness of his wife, Angel, in giving everyone—including all the crew members’ children—gifts each year that provide his coworkers memories fond and lasting.

He enjoys snowmobiling and spending time at his camp on Cold Stream fishing and boating with family and friends.  Though they just recently lost their beloved Bassett hound, Flash, Scott and Angel have a number of Pugs whom they consider family.

Congratulations, Scott.  Your 25 years of work and positive impact on the campus community are appreciated.  You are truly a valuable employee and we look forward to working with you for many years to come!
