Sample Supervisor Comments
During the banquet the Provost will read a brief
statement to the audience in honor of the employee who is being honored. The
written comments will be presented to every honoree whether or not they attend
the banquet. Comments are submitted by the honorees supervisor.
The best comments should be 250 words in length and give
direct examples of the person’s personality, work ethic, accomplishments, and
interactions with colleagues and/or their contributions to the University
community and mission. You may also want to ask people in the department and
friends of the honoree for stories. Please email Michael Yonce or Jessica
Wentworth your comments no later than April 17, 2007 to allow time for editing and
review by the honoree.

Lorraine Wentworth – Facilities Management
Lorraine is a loyal and
conscientious employee who manages to keep 200+ employees in check and
receiving checks day in and day out, despite adversities such as enterprise
software implementation, illegible handwriting, tardy time entries,
mathematical blunders and general timekeeping mayhem. Her sense of duty and
determination enable her to get it all done and still have time to keep
insurance paperwork in order, utilities invoices paid on time and forwarded
for data entry into our energy management database. Where Lorraine truly
shines however, is when you mention her true love ... dogs! Never has there
been someone so profoundly attached to her pets and this species in
particular. You can ask Lorraine anything about her dogs and she will know
the answer-who their parents are, what they like to play with, how old they
are, how they were feeling yesterday, the list goes on and on.
Lorraine is never one to not
try and assist with whatever task is at hand. She often volunteers to help
cover for co-workers who are on leave. When a visitor walks into her office
you can be assured that Lorraine will get them the information they need, or
she will direct them to the person most adept at answering their particular
question.
During
her time at Facilities Management, Lorraine has saved the University
thousands of dollars by correctly administering payroll, quickly and
efficiently processing insurance related issues and being the first one in
line to lend a helping hand. Facilities Management and the University of
Maine thanks you Lorraine, for your continuing service and your 25 years of
outstanding commitment to the University community.
