Re: Employee Recognition Activities
The
Office of Human Resources organizes and hosts annual recognition
activities for campus employees. These activities are intended to
recognize our regular employees, celebrate significant service
achievements, honor award recipients, and pay tribute to retirees.
This year the activities will be organized slightly differently to
enable more employees to attend as follows
Employee
Recognition and Achievement Reception
Tuesday May 15, 2007, 2-4:00 p.m.
North Pod, Memorial Union
This annual event is
the opportunity for our employees to come together and symbolically
close out the academic year.
Employees who have achieved service
records of 25, 35, and 45 years of continuous regular service
(measured since the last recognition ceremony through September 1,
2007) and 2007 Outstanding Employee Award recipients will be the
guests of honor.
Colleagues and supervisors of award recipients are invited to join
with President Kennedy in honoring these employees’ meritorious and
loyal service to the University. All of the employees who will be
recognized have demonstrated a high level of service and dedication
to this institution. Their commitment and hard work for the
University merits our collective respect and gratitude. This new
event combines the traditional ‘employee coffee break’ and the 25
year service award banquet. All employees are encouraged to attend
this event for which there is no charge.
Retiree
Recognition Banquet
Wednesday, May 16, 2007, p.m.
Buchanan (Alumni) House
Employees who have or will be retiring this academic or fiscal year
are honored at the annual Retirement Banquet. Colleagues and family
members are invited to join with President Kennedy to pay tribute to
faculty and staff who are concluding their careers at the University
of Maine. These dedicated individuals have also made valuable
contributions during their service to the University and are also
deserving of our collective respect and gratitude for their
loyalty.
Each
retiree will receive two complimentary tickets to the banquet.
Additional tickets for family, friends and co-workers may be
purchased for $22. If an employee from your department or division
is to be recognized this year, I encourage you and other staff
members who have worked with the employee to help make their
recognition more meaningful by attending the banquet. Retirees will
be awarded a retirement gift of their choice. Examples of gifts,
which feature the UM seal, include a Boston rocker, Captain’s chair,
watch, wall clock, and a brass lamp.
