In addition to University recognized holidays, it is important to accommodate the observance of various religious traditions for those staff who need to be absent for religious holidays throughout the year. For example, Good Friday falls on April 22, 2011. Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on September 28, 2011 and continues through sundown September 30, 2011 while Yom Kippur begins at sundown October 7, 2011 and concludes at sundown on October 8, 2011. Ramadan starts at sundown on August 1, 2011 and concludes with the start of the three-day holiday of Eid al-Fitr on August 30, 2011. Eid al-Adha is a four-day holiday, starting November 6, 2011.
