A. M. "Mellie" Dunham Snowshoes
1909

Made as a special order for Admiral Peary's Arctic expedition in 1909. Dunham, a Norway, Maine farmer, made sixty pairs of snowshoes for Peary's expedition. The rawhide for the shoe's infilling came from his own copws and he "employed" family members, including his wife "Gram," to fill his snowshoe order.
