Welcome to the University of Maine's On-line Training on the Responsible Use and Care of Laboratory Animals. This training is in compliance with federal regulations and the University's approved Animal Welfare Assurance.  Protocols for approval for the use of animals in research, teaching, or testing, will not be approved until all personnel named in the protocol have successfully completed this training.

Gayle Anderson, Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, 443 Corbett Hall, 581-1498, is the contact person for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

The training is composed of seven sections listed on the next page. Completion of each section is required for certification.  The training will take approximately 1 hr.  There is a quiz at the end of the training that must be completed and electronically submitted for certification.
