Resources for those potentially affected

UMaine has engaged the Debix Identity Protection Network as a precautionary measure to help those who may have been affected by this breach. A national company that has assisted other universities in similar situations, Debix will provide potentially affected students and former students with up to 12 months of identity protection. Services include credit monitoring, alerts regarding credit changes and identity theft insurance. Letters from UMaine to each person listed in the database will be mailed in early July. Those letters, customized for each recipient, will describe how to access Debix services at no cost.

Clinical records have not been shared with anyone outside of the University of Maine Counseling Center. Any questions pertaining to confidential information should be directed to the Counseling Center at (207) 581-1392, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Staff members at the UMaine Vice President for Student Affairs office are available to answer general questions about this matter. The phone number at that office is (207) 581-1406.
