About the Study Abroad Resource Room
The Study Abroad Resource Room is located on the third floor of The Maples (white building next to Winslow Hall). At the Resource Room, students can acquire general information about studying abroad as well as view catalogues and brochures of the different study abroad programs UMaine offers. Students will also meet with a Peer Advisor and complete a brief intake survey to help the Study Abroad Advisor guide them in choosing a program well suited to their academic and personal interests.
The Study Abroad Resource Room is closed for the summer. It will re-open in September when the semester starts.
Monday-Friday from 11:30 a. m. – 3:30 p. m. during the regular school year. It is closed during vacations and on holidays.
Study Abroad Peer Advisors are students who recently studied abroad. Their main responsibility is to staff the Resource Room and assist in the advising of prospective study abroad students.
Hannah Bambrick
I am a 3rd year Nursing student from Bangor, ME. I studied at American University in Bulgaria in Fall 2010 and still can’t stop talking about it almost a year later and on Thursdays you can find me in the Study Abroad Resource Room in the Maples. Studying abroad was the best decision I’ve ever made. Bulgaria now feels like my second home. It is a great school, with a small tight-knit community. And yes, they do speak English at school! The food is great and the people are very friendly.
“I like to think of Bulgaria as my homeland now, even though my mom always reminds me that it’s not. I had the most incredible experience in one of the most underestimated countries. Bulgaria is beautiful, diverse, inexpensive, and the food is delicious.”
