Welcome to the University of Maine's Tutorial on the Protection of Human Subjects of Research. This training is in compliance with federal regulations and the University's approved Federal wide Assurance. The purpose of the Assurance is to formalize the institution's commitment to protect human subjects.
Completion of this tutorial and passing the quiz are required for all personnel named in an application for approval of research with human subjects. (Applications will not be approved until all personnel have successfully completed this tutorial.)
The tutorial covers eight topics, plus the quiz; it should take approximately 1.5 hours to complete. If you don't complete the tutorial in one sitting, make sure you write down the last page you accessed; otherwise, you will have to start from the beginning. Please contact Gayle Jones (1-1498, gayle.jones@umit.maine.edu) if you have questions/problems with this site.
We would like to acknowledge the use of course content from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), “Human Participant Protections Education for Research Teams.”
