This information is designed to:

1. Provide a synopsis of the relevant research literature involving dropout prevention, issues, and concerns including understanding the dropout problem, student risk and protective factors, effective strategies for dropout prevention, etc.;
   
   
2. Provide resources, strategies, and tools for local Dropout Prevention Committees;
   
   
3. Offer Maine - specific prevention and intervention programs and strategies re: student dropout prevention; and
   
   
4. Integrate contributions from readers concerning issues related to dropout prevention in Maine public schools.
