On August 13, at 12:00 noon the University of Maine IT Help Center will join the University Technology Support Center (UTSC). UMA, University College and SWS previously combined helpdesk services last July and UMM joined on August 4. The other campuses will join the Support Center on a staggered basis during the next two weeks.
What does this mean for you? For now, all calls to 581-2506 will continue to ring first in Orono. If no Orono agent is available to answer the call, the call will then default to the next available support center. The Orono help center email help [dot] center [at] umit [dot] maine [dot] edu will be forwarded to a shared queue, where any staff member can assist you. Agents have been trained to handle issues for the Orono campus.
This new support center can provide longer coverage for the Orono campus as the support center is staffed for walk in help from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and for phone and email support until 8:00pm during the summer. Beginning in September, the support center will be open 7:00am to 10:00pm Monday through Friday, and 10:00am to 4:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
