PLEASE FORWARD TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED

Dear colleagues,

The Department of Information Technologies has IT Faculty Technology Stipends available for UMaine faculty for 2012/13 academic year. It is the 12th year of the program. These stipends are to compensate for the extra time and effort needed for faculty members to develop technology-based resources for their courses. Between 12-15 awards are usually made. The stipends range from $1,000 to $1,250 each.

Proposals are solicited for projects that produce direct and significant improvement in undergraduate and graduate teaching and learning by using technology. Faculty members, with or without computer skills, are encouraged to present stipend proposals to integrate technology applications into the curriculum. Collaborative projects are also encouraged. Technical assistance and resources are provided by IT Faculty Development Center located in 149 Memorial Union.

Eligibility:  All faculty who will be teaching at the University in the academic year 2012/2013 are eligible to apply. We encourage proposals from faculty who have not previously received a Faculty Technology Stipend.

Procedure:
The proposal must include 2 short documents:
1. Completed online application form: http://www.umaine.edu/it/forms/tech-stipend.php

2. Description of the project with discussion of expected results and impact on the learning process for students enrolled in the course. This document should be a maximum of 2 typewritten, double-spaced pages, and cover the following:

a/ description of project;
b/ discussion of expected results, including the ways in which students will be directly affected;
c/ equipment and software needed for completion
d/ impact on the students enrolled in your course(s)
Submit your completed proposal via email to Andrei Strukov (andrei@maine.edu).

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: March 9, 2012

IMPORTANT: Upon completion of the project, each grant recipient will be required to participate in the Annual Faculty Technology Fair to be held in the first or second week of 2012 (TBD).
