Internet2 consortium that supports state-of-the-art network
infrastructure and advanced middleware and services for U.S. research and
education. The meeting is a key opportunity to provide in-person input to
the Strategic
Planning Steering Committee that is developing a plan for the future
of Internet2.
Register now to be a part of charting the path ahead.

There is still time
to register for the
Spring 2008
Internet2 Member Meeting and take advantage of the early bird
registration rate, which is in effect through 25 March. The meeting will
take place 21-23 April in Arlington, Virginia at the
Crystal Gateway Marriott; please make your
hotel reservations as soon as possible as there are a limited number
of rooms at our special Member Meeting rate.

Results of the
Internet2 2008 Board of
Trustees elections are now final. Representing leaders from academia,
research and industry,
Internet2's
Board provides strategic guidance, directs the setting of priorities,
and ensures Internet2 continues to meet the needs of the research and
education community which it serves. New members will take office at the
Board meeting on 6 May 2008.

Internet2 FiberCo’s
current dark fiber agreement with Level 3 Communications, an Internet2
Corporate Partner, is set to expire in June 2008. Internet2 members and
partners considering dark fiber purchases are encouraged to
contact FiberCo as soon as
possible to take advantage of the current agreement. New fiber purchases
under this agreement will be accepted by FiberCo until June 1, 2008.
- FiberCo was established as a means of acquiring, holding, and distributing dark fiber network assets. Through its agreement with Level 3 Communications, FiberCo offers intercity and metro dark fiber, and colocation services, at competitive aggregated rates to the Internet2 member community.

- The Internet2 Board of Trustees has approved a financial plan for
2008 that supports the major programs and community commitments set forth
by staff and the Advisory Councils. This budget achieves a cash balance
for 2008 and provides a solid financial foundation in support of the
strategic planning efforts currently underway. The
budget webpage provide a
general overview of the 2008 budget plan. Additional information is
provided to members at the business meeting held at the Spring Member
Meeting.
