Telecom: Authorization Codes
Departmental:
Our cellular provider is US Cellular. Departments that
wish to purchase their own cellular phones may contact
Lorelei Kennedy at 1-1609. She will provide them with
the proper forms and information as to the use policy
and equipment available. The
department should allow a week for delivery of their
new phone.
The monthly plan, "Maine Pay As You Go",
costs $7.95 a month and .04 cents a minute as long as
you are in Maine. There is an "Extended"
plan that can be added for $6.00 a month that gives
you 11 more states to get the .04 a minute. The 11 states
are as follows: NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, NY, PA, NJ, DE,
MD and DC. If you place a call outside of your coverage
area, on either plan, you will be charged .30 a minute,
this includes roaming and long distance. Features included
with the above plans are:
Voice Mail, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Conference
Calling, Caller ID, No Answer Transfer, Text messaging
also known as "Mobile Messaging" or SMS-
Receive only.
Rental:
Telecommunications has cellular phones to rent on a
daily/weekly basis (with a two week limit) to departments
or other campus organizations who have C & I accounts.
These units are portable and may be operated from the
cigarette lighter of a
vehicle or for short periods of time via the attached
battery pack (talk time will decrease stand-by time).
Many areas in the State of Maine have cellular coverage,
however, some areas in Northwestern
Maine and Washington/Hancock counties will have limited
coverage. If you have questions
regarding cellular coverage on your expected route,
please contact Lorelei at 581-1609.
Also, while the rented phone is in your possession
you are responsible for its care. If it is
dropped, damaged or stolen, you will be charged the
replacement cost.
The rental rates DO NOT include the costs for calls
made. Actual charges for calls may take up to 60 days
to appear on your bill. Rentals are scheduled on a first
come first serve basis, so please schedule as many days
in advance as possible.
Contact is Lorelei at 1-1609 for more information. When
you come to Telecom and pick up the phone, please make
sure to have your departmental account number and billing
address.
