Machine Shop – mechanical design and fabrication / repair of instrumentation. Equipped with CNC & manual mills, lathes, drill press, welding (TIG, stick, oxy-acetylene, and brazing), grinders, bandsaw, hand tools, AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop, and Mastercam Mill software.
Electronics Shop – repair, maintenance, and fabrication of various types of electronics equipment, including circuit board design and manufacture.
Sample Preparation – crystallographic alignment, sample cutting, polishing and chemical etching.
Thermal Processing – furnaces for processing samples at temperatures up to 1700oC in ambient or controlled environments.
